Virginia Tech - Adjunct Professors of Practice in Architecture + Design

The School of Architecture+Design in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech seeks multiple adjunct professors of practice for Fall of 2021. The candidate will be responsible to teach a 6-credit upper-level design lab at the undergraduate or graduate level. Assistant, Associate and Professor level Professors of Practice are invited to apply. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Being significantly experienced in architectural design and having a track record of recognized research, including built work.

  • Able to incorporate their research interests, creative work, or professional practice into their teaching.

  • Able to demonstrate a discursive aspect in their work, namely how the work engages in the larger public field of architectural culture, discourse and practice.

  • Demonstrated design accomplishments, digital proficiency, and effective teaching abilities.

A professional degree in architecture and an advanced degree in architecture or another relevant field is required. Professional registration is desired. Salary is commensurate with experience. In addition to an architectural design studio, candidates may be requested to teach a lecture course in one of the following areas: Computer applications, digital design, computation and visualization; Contemporary architectural practice, architecture, and production; Designing for social and ecological sustainability; Health and well-being; History, theory, and criticism of architecture; Reuse and conservation; or Structural design and systems.
