Populous’ New York Office
The New York office opened in early 2016. The office is now located in the famed Starrett-Lehigh Building, on 26th Street in between 11th Avenue and the West Side Highway. The office focuses on a wide range of project types and services including sports and entertainment venues, theatre and performing arts, aviation, convention centers, hospitality, mixed-use projects and interior design. It is an office founded on critical thinking and an ability to leverage digital technologies in service of exceptional design. Populous’ New York office is a dynamic and growing group with a wide-range of skills and experience.
Preferred candidates to join our New York team will have an interest in working in a dynamic and collaborative global design environment with an emphasis on communication and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
We recognize the importance of becoming a licensed architect. Populous provides current study materials and will pay for each section of the ARE to be taken up to 2 times. Populous also provides up to 60 hours of paid time off to study for the exams.
Assist in the conceptualization and development of design ideas, generate diagrams, digital models, presentation materials and provide production work for numerous project types.
Assist in collaboratively reviewing and critiquing early phase design concepts.
Assist in the production of design development and construction documents models and construction details and drawings.
Assist in research and development projects as may be required by the office.
Assist in the preparation of design presentations to clients, communities, and other pertinent stakeholders, including public agencies.
All other duties and responsibilities as required.
KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Proficiency and working knowledge of the following design software and applications: Grasshopper, Revit, and expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Rhino, and InDesign.
Proficiency in Enscape for Rhino or Revit preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, required.
Demonstrated ability to effectively convey information and ideas in a presentation format.
Ability to express information verbally and in writing in a clear and accurate manner.
Basic hand drawing and illustration skills.
Strong communication skills, work ethic; with demonstrated efficiency, flexibility, and desire to grow and work within a dynamic team environment while being able to self-manage and work independently.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (required) in Architecture from a NAAB accredited program, Masters Degree in Architecture (preferred).
0-3 years of professional experience.
Travel will be required.
Overtime may be required.
