Magnusson Architecture and Planning (MAP) - Senior Project Architect

Magnusson Architecture and Planning (MAP) is a purpose-driven architecture firm centered on socially responsible housing and community development. For more than 30 years we have been at the forefront of inclusive, sustainable and healthy design. Our work includes residential and mixed-use buildings with an emphasis on affordable, supportive, senior, transitional and market-rate housing; community facility spaces; and community-based planning and urban design.

At MAP, we work to foster a collegial, collaborative, and team-based studio environment, focused on thoughtful planning and design solutions to support and elevate our clients’ missions. The firm is seeking a talented and skilled candidate to join our successful team and work under the supervision of a Project Manager and Principal/Associate-in-Charge.


  • Management of project contracts and schedule, interactions with clients and public agencies, and internal project budgeting, invoicing, and project progress reporting.

  • Day-to-day coordination and management of project team, including consultants.

  • Overseeing the completion of architectural contract documents.

  • Administration of ongoing and future construction efforts.

  • Meeting and managing client needs, in coordination with the various design team members and the construction team.

  • Management of internal project staff and external consulting team to prepare deliverables in accordance with approved scope of services, client project program and established internal quality standards.

  • Contribute to internal activities such as QAQC reviews, technical research, and specialized licensing.

  • Engage in mentorship of the design staff.


  • License preferred, but not required

  • 8 to 10 years of experience in design coordination and construction administration

  • In-depth knowledge of NYC zoning and building codes

  • Strong communication, collaboration and leadership skills

  • Proficiency in Revit preferred, but not required
