JUMAANE STEWART RECOGNITION AWARD
Jumanne Stewart was a licensed architect who mentored students, guided and encouraged many young architects to become licensed and registered architects. In the honor of this great leader, we are awarding any minority architect who successfully completed all New York State and NCARB required exams (by September 30 of the current year) with a $500 stipend.
Who is eligible: Any minority architect who successfully completed all their New York State registration requirements within the current year.
Application Rules:
To apply for the Jumaane Omar Stewart Recognition Award applicants should:

Submit a letter or e-mail from NCARB showing the date of successful completion of all exams.

Submit a written synopsis on the “lessons learned” during your testing process.

NYCOBA DIVERSITY IN THE SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE RECOGNITION
Throughout the years, the minority enrollment in the Architecture schools has decreased substantially. To address this issue, this award is to help encourage and support young potential architects with a $500 stipend.
Who is eligible: This recognition is awarded to any minority student who is enrolled in a B.Arch or M.Arch program in an accredited school in the USA.
Application Rules:
To apply for the NYCOBA Diversity in the School of Architecture Award applicants should:

Submit proof of enrollment. Proof of enrollment must include: 1) Your name. 2) The semester you will attend (i.e. "Fall 2021"). 3) The name of the college/university where you are enrolled. 4) Your student college/university ID number. 5) Total number of credit hours enrolled.

Submit a written synopsis on your time/experience while enrolled in the School of Architecture.

NYCOBA ARE AWARD
To recognize associate members of nycoba|NOMA who are emerging professionals and licensure candidates during their Architectural Examination Registration phase.
Who is eligible: Candidates registered for the ARE who have successfully completed an exam during the calendar year 2020. Nominations will be open to all paid by nycoba|NOMA associate members in good standing.
Application Rules:
Nomination Materials will be required in PDF format (2MB max). Both nominations and self-nominations will be accepted. In the event of a nomination, the candidate will be contacted to submit confirmation of exam payment and successful completion.
Each nomination must contain the following:

Division Completed: No more than 1 division will be awarded

Division Completion Date: Division must have been passed between 01.01.2020 and 12.01.2020

NYCOBA ACADEMIC AWARD
To recognize faculty of color that have made a positive and profound impact on students and the advancement of architectural education.
Who is eligible: Candidates in the service of architectural education who have had a significant impact fostering excellent teaching and a healthy learning environment in the state of New York. Nominations will ve open to all paid nycoba|NOMA members in good standing currently teaching Full-time or Part-time or persons whose academic activities have clearly been identified with architectural education
Application Rules:
Nomination Materials will be required in PDF format (2MB max). Both nominations and self-nominations will be accepted. In the event of a nomination, the candidate will be contacted to submit confirmation of exam payment and successful completion.
Each nomination must contain the following:

Candidate Name

Short Bio: No more than 300 words

Curated Resume: a curated resume summarizing the career and achievements of the candidate, no more than 10 pages (PDF format)

Supporting Letter: One supporting letter from a faculty or administrative peer qualified to comment upon the significance of the specific achievements of the candidate (no more than 1 page each in separate PDF format)
